Australia is one of the only countries in the world to have tax deductible shares. This issue received widespread media attention in the 2018 Australian Federal election in which Labor attempted to remove franking credits, citing its' cost to the Treasury in addition to it preferencing relatively wealthy retirees. In defence of the system, Liberals argued that the abolition would hurt self funded retirees and create a welfare dependency. Though the Liberals were returned to government, Franking Credits remain a hot button issue for both young people, and those who have retired.

You can cast your vote for speakers that best align with your views on this debate. The more votes a speaker gets the higher up the list they appear. The speaker with the most votes will be highlighted as the Leading Speaker.
Everybody gets two votes. One vote "FOR" and one vote "AGAINST" which means you can only vote once per column. You can change your vote at any time - just click the checkmark () where you previously voted to remove your vote and you can cast it again.
If you use both your votes, they will effectively cancel each other out in terms of the overall debate results. However, your votes will influence each speaker individually and count towards the determination of the Leading Speaker.
